Understanding AEO
What is answer engine optimisation?
Answer engine optimisation (AEO) is the work of making your company easier for AI systems to find, understand and accurately describe when someone asks a relevant question. It combines clear content, accessible pages, reliable facts and evidence from credible sources.
How is AEO different from SEO?
SEO focuses on visibility in search results. AEO also examines what the answer says: whether you are mentioned, how you are positioned and which sources support the response. The foundations overlap, so search performance and AI visibility should be measured together.
Can you guarantee that an AI will recommend my company?
No. Recommendations vary with the question, model, location, source availability and timing. The useful goal is to improve the evidence behind your visibility and measure patterns across repeated runs, rather than promise a particular answer.
Reports and daily tracking
What’s the difference between Platform and Done for you?
With the platform, your team tracks prompts, reviews answers and manages improvements. Done for you adds a team of experts to handle the marketing and corrective actions, with weekly reports. Compare the plans.
Are the company dashboards live customer results?
The Apple, Nike and Patagonia dashboards use illustrative data to show how the product works. They are not customer case studies, and their scores and targets are not industry benchmarks.
What does the free report cover?
The report brings together a starting visibility score, the questions where your company appears or is overlooked, competing brands and potential improvements. Use it to decide which gaps deserve a closer look.
Which AI assistants can I explore?
Starter tracks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Pro tracks nine AIs; Enterprise scope is agreed with your team. The report overview shows examples across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok. See plan limits.
Can I choose the prompts you track?
Yes. Start with your own buyer questions, generate a proposed set from your company and category, or combine both. Review the wording and intent before selecting a fixed number of prompts for your tracking scope. Explore Prompt Analysis.
How often are prompts tracked?
The selected prompt set is scheduled daily. Each run records the prompt, assistant, response, available citations and time of collection. Keeping the set consistent helps you compare changes; a missed or failed run should stay visible as missing data.
Does a mention mean an AI recommends us?
A mention, a citation and a recommendation describe different things. Your name can appear in an answer without an endorsement, and a source can be cited without your product being recommended. Vasa’s approach is to evaluate these signals separately.
Crawlers and corrective actions
Does an AI crawler visit mean my company will appear in an answer?
No. A crawler request indicates that a system attempted to access a page. It does not prove that the content was indexed, used for training, cited or recommended. Interpret crawler activity alongside response evidence. Explore AI Crawler Visibility.
How do agents analyse corrective actions?
Specialist agents examine technical access, content clarity and cited sources. They collect evidence, test possible explanations and propose bounded changes with owners and a way to measure the result. Explore Agent Analysis.
Will agents change my website automatically?
The analysis workflow keeps proposed actions separate from implementation. Your team reviews the evidence and approves changes before publication. Automations and Agent Marketing are coming soon.
How do I know whether a change worked?
Compare the same prompts before and after the change, across repeated runs. Look at recommendation coverage, accuracy, citations and competing explanations. A change followed by a better answer is a useful signal, but timing alone does not establish the cause.
